Mike Thiessen is the local champion of the day.

Thiessen says he is building barriers using sheets and PVC pipes to shield mourners from the protesters. Three Cheers for Mike

Thank You Mike, I appreciate your efforts.  I had a less than spectacular idea to deal with them.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

Omaha Man Stands Up Against Funeral-Protesting Church

Omaha, NE – An Omaha man is standing up against a Kansas church that is known for protesting outside of military funerals.

The Westboro Baptist Church travels the country, often picketing at services for fallen soldiers.  The church claims that war deaths are God’s punishment for America’s tolerance of homosexuality.

The group now plans to protest at the funeral of Omaha South High School teacher, Stacey Klinger.  Klinger died last week after an SUV struck her, while she was walking outside of the school.

The church’s plan disgusts Mike Thiessen.

“Her death was very untimely,” says Thiessen, “To come in the middle of all that grief with this kind of statement that God hates Nebraska and God hates teachers is totally uncalled for and completely ridiculous.”

Thiessen says he is building barriers using sheets and PVC pipes to shield mourners from the protestors.
