Got My Eye on You #26

Congressional Daily Digest for 3/30/06
Senate – introduced Six bills and One resolution
House of Representatives – introduced 23 bills, and 12 resolutions

H. Res. 746 was introduced on 3/30/2006 and passed the HOR on 3/30/2006. This bill resulted in the following action. Resolved, That the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct shall immediately initiate an investigation of the misconduct by Members of Congress and their staff implicated in the scandals associated with Mr. Jack Abramoff’s criminal activity.

H. Res. 752 Requesting the President to transmit to the House of Representatives not later than 14 days after the date of adoption of this resolution documents in the possession of the President relating to the receipt and consideration by the Executive Office of the President of any information concerning the variation between the version of S. 1932,the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, that the House of Representatives passed on February 1, 2006, and the version of the bill that the President signed on February 8, 2006. Looks like there was some shenanigans from the Republican Congressional Leadership, and the Whitehouse. The difference is that they were supposed to be able to lease durable medical equipment for 36 months. But the bill the president signed limited that to 13 months. This action will save the government $2 billion over five years. http://reform.democrats.house.gov/Documents/20060330160732-44562.pdf
