Got My Eye On You #18

H. Res. 718 Requesting the President and directing the Secretary of Homeland Security to provide to the House of Representatives certain documents in their possession relating to the Dubai Ports World acquisition of 6United States commercial ports leases.

H. R. 4722 To protect children, to secure the safety of judges, prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and their family members, to reduce and prevent gang violence, and for other purposes. Bill was introduced 12/8/05, and has passed the house. It now goes to the Senate.

H. R. 4573 To increase the renewable fuel content of gasoline sold in the United States by the year 2025 to 25 billion gallons, to require Federal agencies to use ethanol and biodiesel in government vehicles, and for other purposes. This bill was introduced on 12/16/05. This bill has been kicked down to a subcommittee.

H. R. 4917 To amend the Defense Production Act of 1950 to require notification to Congress after receipt of written notification of proposed or pending mergers, acquisitions, or takeovers subject to investigation under such Act, and for other purposes. A similar bill H. R. 4929 is also in the works.

H. R. 4918 To permit the issuance of tax-exempt bonds for air and water pollution control facilities. This is a bill that can contribute to better environmental conditions in America A similar bill has similar environmental impact at the heart of it. H. R. 4933 introduced by my former Rep from Michigan.

H. R. 4923 To abolish the death penalty under Federal law. I think this bill is DOA, but you never know. I am all for the death penalty, but not the way it is administrated now. It cost too much money, I say if they are found guilty it should be executed within 24 hrs. A little harsh, but so is killing someone in cold blood.

H. R. 4925 To improve whistleblower protections. This is a good law, bc sometimes the whistleblower actions save lives.

H. R. 4931 To direct the Federal Trade Commission to revise the regulations regarding the Do-not-call registry to prohibit politically-oriented recorded message telephone calls to telephone numbers listed on that registry. Shouldn’t this have been included in the original act? A similar bill is also active H. R. 4932

S. 2399 A bill to prohibit termination of employment of volunteers firefighters and emergency medical personnel responding to emergencies, and for other purposes. Shaky ground this is, even volunteers should be able to be fired/dismissed. If I was doing a crappy job at SA I would expect not to be asked back.

S. 2377 A bill to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act and other Acts to provide for border security and interior enforcement improvements, and/or other purposes. It was introduced by Senator Nelson on 3/7/06, as you can tell I didn’t put that bill up on the 8th. I don’t care for it, but it was introduced by one of my Senators.
