Canada you don’t wanna go there

TORONTO – Health Promotions Minister Margarett Best says the government may review KFC’s new Double Down sandwich with an eye to banning it. “At this point in time I am not looking at restricting anything, but certainly I don’t think you can ever close the door on anything,” she said. The KFC website describes the Double Down as two thick and juicy slices of white meat, two slices of bacon, two slices of cheese, “and the Colonel’s sauce.” Story from Canada

The “original recipe” version of the sandwich checks in at 540 calories, 32 grams of fat and 1,380 mg of sodium. The grilled version is a mere 460 calories, 23 grams of fat and 1,430 mg of sodium.

“That is not something we have discussed, but it is certainly something we may look at and review,” Best said.

“I am not looking at any restrictions on that particular sandwich at this time, but I certainly am looking at various options to see what are the possibilities in addressing that,” Best said.

Conservative leader Tim Hudak said he can’t wait to try the new sandwich.

Hudak chuckled when asked if he thinks the government will ban the sandwich, and referred to Premier Dalton McGuinty as “Premier Dad.”

He said McGuinty has shown “a very bizarre obsession with micromanging our daily lives, from the kind of dog we can own to the kinds of snacks our kids can take to school, so maybe he is going to go after KFC next.”

“I am looking forward to trying it,” Hudak said.

Asked if he was worried about what the new sandwich would do to his health, Hudak said he would, “go for a jog afterwards.”

I have not had one of these creations, but I can assure you that you don’t wanna ban this Canada, even though you aren’t the United States of America.  I think your citizens & visitors have choices.  But since I’ve never been to Canada, I don’t know.
