Got My Eye on You #33

Congressional Daily Digest for 4/25/06
Senate: 16 bills and Six resolutions were introduced
House: 27 public bills and Six resolutions were introduced

S. Res. 442 A resolution expressing the deep disappointment of the Senate with respect to the election of Iran to a leadership position in the United Nations Disarmament Commission and requesting the President to withhold funding to the United Nations unless credible reforms are made. This is good, let’s not pay the dues of the UN when we get all prissy. Then other countries will follow the US and the UN will cease to exist as we know it. This Resolution will not be law, but it still pisses me off.

S. 2649: A bill to direct the Secretary of Commerce to provide emergency disaster assistance to mitigate the economic losses caused by the declining Klamath River salmon and to develop and implement a research and recovery plan for Klamath River salmon, and for other purposes. Just another farming subsidiary.

S. J. Res 34 A joint resolution expressing United States policy on Iraq. I am totally unclear on this bill. I am not ensure if this is in support of the US policy or against.

H. Con. Res. 389 Amending the Rules of the House of Representatives and the StandingRules of the Senate to require the full payment and disclosure ofcharter flights provided to Members of Congress. This is additonal transparency of congressional actions, along the lines of H. R. 4975.

H. Res. 772 Amending the Rules of the House of Representatives to require theCommittee on Standards of Official Conduct to provide regular ethicstraining for Members, Delegates, and the Resident Commissioner. Pretty clear

H. R. 5171 To amend the Public Health Service Act to provide for communityprojects that will reduce the number of individuals who are uninsuredwith respect to health care, and for other purposes.

H. R. 5184 To require businesses to permit customers to cancel certainsubscription services in the same manner and by the same means as isprovided by such person to individuals to subscribe to such service. It really shouldn’t take an acto of congress to cancel your subscription to sucky magazine jr.

S. 2636 A bill to provide an immediate Federal income tax rebate to help taxpayers with higher fuel costs, and for other purposes. What a unique idea. I think it is stupid, but I am not a taxpayer with higher fuel costs. I thinkt his really is wierd and cumbrosome, bc what is ‘higher’ fuel cost. I saw a map of the US just yesterday and there was a $0.89 difference across the US.

H. R. 4709 passed the House of Representatives by roll call vote. 409 Aayes, 0 Nays, 23 Present/Not Voting Lee Terry Voted Aye.

H. R. 4975 was placed on the Union Calendar, Calendar No. 244. Lee Terry will be getting a letter requesting he vote Aye on said bill.
