Don’t believe everything

Please take this opportunity to explain how Facebook, texting and other forms of social media can compound the problem when we don’t deal in facts.

Message from Bellevue West Principal Kevin Rohlfs

Typically we don’t send messages out to address rumors. But in this day and age of Facebook and social media sometimes things get out of control and rumors spread rapidly. On Tuesday there was a fight at Bellevue West High School and students were disciplined. Police were called as is our protocol in situations like this. Extra police have remained at the school as a precautionary measure because of the unsubstantiated rumors. Rest assured we are doing everything to ensure students are safe. We would like your help in controlling the rumors. Please take this opportunity to explain how Facebook, texting and other forms of social media can compound the problem when we don’t deal in facts.

The most effective safety program is one where students, parents and the community are observant and report anything suspicious. Please take this time to have an open dialogue with your sons and daughters. We will do the same.

If you or your children have questions, please call me at 402-293-4040. That’s what we are here for.

Its simple, don’t believe anything you read without checking the facts(EXCEPT on this blog).  If you do the research yourself, you’ll be smarter.
